In a major administrative reshuffle, the Assam government has transferred 18 officers of the Assam Police, including four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The transfers were ordered through a notification issued by the state Home Department on Monday. Officials said the reshuffle is part of routine administrative measures aimed at improving field-level functioning and strengthening policing across the state.
According to the notification, IPS officer Dinesh Kumar has been transferred from his post as Commandant of the 5th Assam Police Battalion at Sontila in Dima Hasao district. He has now been posted as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of West Karbi Anglong district, with headquarters at Hamren. He replaces Balin Deuri, who has been shifted to a new assignment.
Another key transfer involves IPS officer Nishant Saurabh, who was serving as Additional Superintendent of Police (Security) to the Chief Minister. He has been allowed to hold charge in the rank of SSP/Commandant/DCP/AIGP and has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Border) in the Police Commissionerate of Guwahati.
IPS officer Anchal Chauhan, who was posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (Law) in the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption branch of the Assam Police, has been transferred and posted as Commandant of the 28th Assam Police Battalion at Howly in Barpeta district.
Meanwhile, IPS officer Yangchen Doma Bhutia, who was serving as Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) in Nagaon district, has been allowed to hold charge in the rank of SSP/Commandant/DCP/AIGP. She has been transferred and posted as Assistant Inspector General of Police (AP) and Assistant Inspector General of Police (Sports) at Ulubari in Guwahati.
Several officers from the Assam Police Service (APS) cadre were also shifted as part of the reshuffle. Balin Deuri, APS, who was serving as SSP of West Karbi Anglong, has been transferred and posted as Commandant of the 1st Assam Forest Protection Force Battalion at Basistha. Mrinal Talukdar, APS, has been shifted from the 25th AP (ONGC) Battalion at Ligiripukhuri in Sivasagar to the 13th AP Battalion at Lilabari in Lakhimpur.
Patrick Ronghang, APS, has been transferred from the 14th AP Battalion at Daulasal in Nalbari to the 9th AP Battalion at Barhampur in Nagaon. Dr Abdel Quadir Arief, APS, has been moved from the RTS at Dergaon and posted as SSP, CID (Narcotics Control), Assam, at Ulubari in Guwahati.
Nirupam Hazarika, APS, has been transferred from the post of Assistant Inspector General of Police (A&E) and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) in the Guwahati Police Commissionerate. Olindita Gogoi, APS, has been shifted from AIGP (Sports) to AIGP (A&E) at Ulubari.
Imdad Ali, APS, has been transferred from the post of DCP (Administration), Guwahati, and posted as Commandant of the 25th AP (ONGC) Battalion at Ligiripukhuri. Hiranya Barman, APS, has been shifted from the 8th AP Battalion at Abhayapuri to the 14th AP Battalion at Daulasal.
Satya Ranjan Saikia, APS, has been transferred from the 24th AP Battalion at Charaimari in Baksa and posted as Commandant of the RTS at Dergaon. Dr Rubul Gogoi, APS, has been moved from the 27th AP Battalion at Khajuabeel in Udalguri to the 24th AP Battalion at Charaimari.
Mukut Rabha, APS, has been transferred from the 9th AP Battalion at Barhampur and posted as Commandant of the 8th AP Battalion at Abhayapuri. Debasish Sharma, APS, has been shifted from the 13th AP Battalion at Lilabari and posted as Commandant of the 12th AP Battalion at Jamugurihat in Sonitpur.
Dr Manabendra Gogoi, APS, has been transferred from the post of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AP) and posted as Commandant of the 5th AP Battalion at Sontila in Dima Hasao. Kamal Kumar Gupta, APS, has been shifted from the 12th AP Battalion at Jamugurihat and posted as Commandant of the 27th AP Battalion at Khajuabeel in Udalguri.
