Arun Garg, a close associate of the late singer and composer Zubeen Garg, appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on October 12 in connection with the ongoing investigation into Garg’s sudden death in Singapore last month.

CID officials confirmed Arun’s appearance but did not disclose details of his questioning. Sources said his statement was formally recorded as part of the continuing probe into the tragic incident. Arun, who was one of the four individuals to light Garg’s funeral pyre, spoke to reporters after his visit and urged authorities to deliver justice swiftly.

“We want justice for Dada. There has already been too much delay,” Arun said. He also revealed his close personal connection to the late singer, mentioning that he had been part of Garg’s family for several years and had even adopted the name “Arun Garg.”

On allegations related to financial irregularities involving other associates of Garg, Arun said he was unaware of any such matters. “I mainly work with Bou (Garg’s sister-in-law, Garima Garg). The only thing I know is that justice is needed. Why is it taking so long?” he questioned.

Arun also raised concerns about certain Assam-origin individuals living in Singapore who have not responded to CID summons. “Those who are in Singapore should be brought here; they should be dragged here. I don’t understand why they are not appearing,” he said, stressing the urgency of the matter.

The investigation is being led by a 10-member SIT headed by Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta. Garg’s death occurred on September 19 while he was swimming in the sea during his visit to Singapore to attend the North East India Festival.

So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the case. They include festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Garg’s cousin Sandipan Garg, his manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, singer Amritprava Mahanta, and two of Garg’s personal security officers, Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya.
