Tensions ran high in Baksa today as the Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed following large-scale protests over the placement of the accused in the Zubeen Garg death case at the Baksa district jail. The incident has left three people seriously injured, with one Zubeen Garg fan reported to be in critical condition at a local hospital.
The unrest began after authorities brought five individuals accused in the singer’s death to Baksa district jail. Local residents expressed deep concern and anger over the decision. Many protesters, including thousands of Zubeen Garg fans, gathered in Baksa demanding that the accused be shifted to another facility. “Is Baksa so dirty that the dirtiest people are kept here? Our Baksa is very clean. We do not want such people here who have killed our Zubeen Garg,” said one woman fan, speaking passionately on behalf of the protestors. “We feel sad for Zubeen Garg. He was like a child to us. How can they bring those who murdered him here?”
The Rapid Action Force has warned the public that any attempts to break the law would not be tolerated and strict action would follow. Reports indicate that some of the injured were shot during clashes between the police and protesters.
