A grand tribute event is being organized at the Sivasagar Boarding Playground, reflecting the deep affection and respect that the public holds for the late artist.
Raijor Dal President and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi, who has been vocal about the “Justice for Zubeen Garg” campaign, announced that more than 15 prominent Assamese singers and artists will participate in today’s judicial rally and tribute programs. “See you all, please come,” Gogoi urged, calling on the people to join in the collective remembrance of Garg’s contribution to music and society.
The full-day event begins early in the morning at 9 AM with a candle-lighting and homage ceremony in front of a portrait of Zubeen Garg. This will be followed at 9:30 AM by a tree-planting ceremony to honor his memory and symbolize life and growth. At 10 AM, an interfaith and community prayer meeting will bring together people from all walks of life to offer prayers for the departed artist.
The main tribute program, starting at 11 AM, is set to feature leading artists of Assam along with several eminent writers and academicians. The event promises heartfelt performances, speeches, and expressions of gratitude towards Garg, who had become an iconic figure in Assamese music and culture.
A special highlight of the day will be at 3 PM, when around 5,000 youth, students, and young performers will come together to perform Zubeen Garg’s timeless song, “Mayabini Ratir Bukut,” in a massive collective tribute. Later in the afternoon, at 4 PM, a human chain will be formed, symbolizing unity and shared mourning, followed by a collective candle-lighting ceremony at 5 PM.
