Veteran actor Satish Shah, a name synonymous with Indian television comedy and unforgettable film roles, passed away today at the age of 74. He breathed his last at around 2:30 pm at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant.

Shah, whose face and performances became a familiar presence in Indian homes for over four decades, leaves behind a legacy that spans films, television, and theatre. His portrayal of the witty and lovable Indravadan Sarabhai in the cult TV series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai won the hearts of audiences across generations. The character, known for his clever comebacks and impeccable comic timing, remains etched in the memories of millions.

Before becoming a television icon, Satish Shah gained acclaim in the 1983 satire Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, a film still celebrated today for its sharp humor and his ability to portray multiple roles seamlessly. Over the years, he showcased his versatility in blockbuster films including Main Hoon Na, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Om Shanti Om.
