An appeal has come from the family of late music icon Zubeen Garg after a comment by actor Jatin Bora’s daughter Aastha Bora sparked widespread anger online. The situation grew after Aastha referred to Zubeen Garg simply as “Zubeen” during a media interaction about his last film Roi Roi Binale, instead of calling him “Zubeen da,” which is the respectful way to address elders in Assamese culture.

Many fans felt the way she addressed the beloved singer was disrespectful, and social media platforms soon filled with criticism. Hashtags and emotional posts from fans added fuel to the online reaction, as the state continues to mourn the loss of the legendary artist. The situation quickly escalated, showing how deeply people still feel for Zubeen and how emotional the atmosphere remains since his passing.

Seeing this rising anger, Zubeen Garg’s wife Garima Saikia Garg stepped in with a heartfelt message on Facebook. Her tone was soft and full of understanding. She asked everyone to remain calm and not target the young girl. Garima shared that Aastha and many other children were very close to Zubeen and her, almost like family. She explained that these young people grew up around them, spent time with them, and were treated with warmth and affection.

Garima wrote that Zubeen always used to say that these children would grow up to be his friends one day. She even mentioned that Zubeen himself asked these children to call him by his first name and encouraged a friendly bond, not a formal one. According to Garima, this habit came from love and closeness, not from disrespect. She reminded everyone that Aastha did not intend to insult anyone and that the public should correct a young girl gently instead of attacking her online.

Garima’s post expressed deep emotion and carried the pain the family still feels. She shared memories of how the children shared meals with them, spent happy times, and were part of many joyful and simple moments in their life. She requested people to forgive Aastha and guide her with kindness. Her message was not only about defending the young girl but also about reminding everyone that Zubeen always valued love, respect, and calm communication.

Zubeen’s sister, Palmee Borthakur, also came forward with a gentle message. She reminded people that Aastha was very close to Zubeen, like a younger family member. She explained that the younger generation often called him “Zubeen” because he himself allowed and encouraged it. Palmee requested everyone to remember the affection shared between them and not let anger overshadow love. She asked people to correct with kindness and act like elders who guide, not punish.
