Tensions flared at Lumding College on the eve of student union elections as violence erupted between rival student political groups. The clash reportedly involved an attack on NSUI candidate Siddharth Chakraborty, who is contesting for the General Secretary (GS) post, leaving him hospitalized.

Eyewitnesses said the incident took place late last night when NSUI members were putting up election posters outside the college campus. According to students present at the scene, ABVP members allegedly confronted and assaulted Chakraborty during the scuffle. The attack has raised serious concerns about pre-election violence and the overall security arrangements at the college.

The student union elections at Lumding College are being held today after a gap of nearly six years. Both NSUI and ABVP candidates have been actively campaigning, with supporters from both sides engaging in heated exchanges in recent days.
