Two notable poetry collections, Taranath Guchi Jai by Manohari Bayan and Jibon Kidore Jukhilou Tok by Hilloljuti Singh, were officially released at a ceremony held at the Guwahati Press Club on Monday. The collections have been published by Sampriti Prakashan and Pragya Media Hype.
The event began with a violin tribute to the late singer Zubeen Garg by Dr. Vaibhavi Swaroopa, creating a warm and reflective atmosphere. The book release ceremony saw the presence of poet Lutfa Hanum Selima Begum, poet-professor Pranjit Bora, writer-professors Dr. Hemanta Deka and Dr. Ratul Deka, and writer-reciter Hemen Das.
While unveiling Taranath Guchi Jai, poet Lutfa Hanum Selima Begum praised Manohari Bayan’s refined and fluent poetic language. She noted that his poems provide new insights with each reading and beautifully capture the essence of rural Assamese life. Dr. Pranjit Bora highlighted the importance of books in carrying a nation’s culture and values to future generations.
On the other hand, Jibon Kidore Jukhilou Tok by Hilloljuti Singh was recognized for its honesty and relevance. Dr. Ratul Deka said Singh’s poetry brings attention to the struggles of ordinary people, which often go unnoticed, while Dr. Hemanta Deka added that Singh’s simple and direct style creates vivid imagery that clearly conveys the poet’s thoughts.
The ceremony also featured recitations by Lokashis Bayen and readings of selected poems by poets Prashanta Rabha and Himanshu Bhagawati, which enthralled the audience. Ujwal Bora, owner of Pragya Media Hype and anchor of the event, appreciated the successful organization of the function. Writer-reciter Hemen Das extended his best wishes to both poets, expressing hope that their works will leave a lasting mark in Assamese literature.
