The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee today observed the fifth death anniversary of former Chief Minister and veteran leader Tarun Gogoi. Party leaders, workers and supporters gathered at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati to pay homage to the late leader, who is remembered as one of the tallest political figures of the state.

Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia led the tributes. Speaking to reporters, Saikia said that the day reminded the party and the people of Assam about Gogoi’s long years of service and his steady leadership. “On the fifth death anniversary, we pay tribute to former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. We remember his leadership that guided Assam from a period of destruction to a new era. He led the state for 15 years, steering it on the path of progress and peace,” he said.

Saikia also offered his personal tribute at Rajiv Bhawan. Calling Gogoi a “beloved people’s leader,” he said that the former Chief Minister’s vision and work in building a modern Assam would always stay in public memory. “His far-sighted vision and contributions in building a modern Assam will always remain memorable. His ideals of public service will forever be an eternal source of inspiration for us. His strong leadership and commitment towards the people of Assam will always continue to guide us,” Saikia said.

During the programme, party workers shared memories of Gogoi’s long tenure and recalled how he brought political stability to the state. Several leaders highlighted his role in improving governance, strengthening peace efforts and expanding development work during his three consecutive terms as Chief Minister.
