In manipur, militants ambushed an Assam Rifles security post near the Indo-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district, leaving four personnel injured today. The incident occurred around 4:30 am near border pillar numbers 85 and 86, close to Saibol Kuki village and Maringthel village.
According to sources, the attackers, reportedly based in Myanmar, were armed with sophisticated weapons and explosives. They launched a fierce assault on the security post, which included gunfire and bomb attacks. The Assam Rifles personnel stationed there retaliated promptly, leading to a half-hour-long exchange of fire.
No fatalities were reported, but the four injured jawans were immediately airlifted to Imphal for emergency medical treatment. “A patrolling party of Assam Rifles was fired upon by terrorists along India-Myanmar Border in early morning hours. The fire was immediately retaliated with control and caution, keeping civilian safety in mind,” an official Army statement said.
The militants managed to escape across the Myanmar border before reinforcements could arrive. Authorities have launched a massive search and combing operation in the area to track down the assailants. Additional security forces have been deployed, and residents have been advised to remain vigilant.
The attack took place near Saibol village, a known corridor for several insurgent groups including ULFA-I, NSCN, and UKLF. While no group has claimed responsibility yet, security agencies are investigating all possible leads.
