A detailed review meeting was held today at the Chief Executive Member’s Conference Hall of the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, and PWD (PMGSY) Minister Krishnendu Paul, along with Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Nandita Gorlosa. Senior officials from the Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, PWD PMGSY, and NHAI departments were present to give updates on ongoing projects and future plans.
The session lasted several hours, as officers placed reports on the table and explained the current situation in their respective sectors. The discussion mainly focused on fisheries, animal husbandry, and road development works that play an important role in the day-to-day lives of people in Dima Hasao.
District Fishery Development Officer Chatra Pator shared a detailed update on the status of the fisheries sector in the district. He explained the progress made so far and pointed out areas where more support and monitoring are needed. The meeting noted that fisheries continue to be an important source of income for many families in the district, and improving this sector could help boost the local economy.
The PWD PMGSY department also presented its progress report. Officials informed the ministers that significant work has been completed under the proposed road connectivity plan for 2025–26. According to the report, 116.46 km of the targeted road network has already reached 90% completion in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage. The ministers stressed that good roads are essential for connecting villages, improving transport, and supporting economic activities across Dima Hasao.
Throughout the meeting, both ministers encouraged the officials to speed up the remaining works and ensure timely completion. They also asked the departments to maintain transparency and keep coordination strong so that development activities continue smoothly. The ministers said that road connectivity, fisheries growth, and better livestock services are important for improving the quality of life of people in the hill district.
