In Zubeen Garg death case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court today. The case, which has drawn public attention since the singer was found dead on September 19, has now moved into a more serious stage with the introduction of strong criminal charges.
According to the document placed before the court, the SIT has invoked Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with murder, against seven accused who are currently in judicial custody. The chargesheet states that Siddharth Sharma, Shyamkanu Mahanta, Amritprabha Mahanta, and Shekharjyoti Goswami are among those specifically named under this section. This marks a significant point in the case, as it is the first time that the SIT has formally identified individuals who may be directly linked to the circumstances leading to the singer’s death.
The chargesheet further mentions that Sandeepan Garg has been booked under Section 105 of the BNS, which applies in cases of culpable homicide. This section is used when a death occurs under circumstances that may not meet the full definition of murder but still involve serious wrongdoing.
In addition to these charges, two persons connected to the case: PSO Paresh Baishya and Nandeswar Bora have been charged under Criminal Breach of Trust, a provision in the BNS that is applied when individuals misuse responsibility or violate the trust placed in them. Their role in the case has been under examination for some time, and the chargesheet now clarifies the legal sections under which they will be investigated further.
