A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan posted at the Vairengte camp in Mizoram passed away after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while playing badminton with his colleagues. The incident has brought shock and grief to his family, friends, fellow personnel, and people in his home district in Assam.
The deceased jawan has been identified as Ranjit Singh, a resident of Laothai Basti in the Udharbond area of Cachar district, Assam. He had been serving at the CRPF camp in Vairengte for quite some time and was known among his colleagues as a disciplined and sincere member of the force.
According to information received, the incident took place late on Sunday night inside the camp premises. Ranjit Singh was playing badminton with other CRPF personnel when he suddenly complained of uneasiness and collapsed on the court. His colleagues immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The cause of death was confirmed as sudden cardiac arrest.
Following the incident, his mortal remains were taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem examination as part of the legal procedure. After the completion of formalities, the body was handed over to his family members and transported to his native place in Cachar district.
The last rites were performed with full state honours, in the presence of family members, colleagues, local residents, and representatives of the security forces.
