The call to boycott Bangladeshi products is gaining strength across Arunachal Pradesh, amid growing public anger over alleged hostile statements and threats from Bangladesh related to India’s northeastern region.
Several social organisations, student bodies, and local traders’ associations have urged people to stop purchasing goods imported from Bangladesh. They described the boycott as a symbolic but strong response to what they termed repeated provocations and attempts to undermine **India’s sovereignty. Protesters said recent remarks from across the border suggesting the separation of parts of the Northeast from India have deeply hurt public sentiment, particularly in the frontier state.
Leaders of these groups said the boycott is not just an economic measure but a “nationalistic stand” to safeguard the unity and integrity of the country. “Arunachal Pradesh is an inseparable part of India. Any external threat or irresponsible statement will be firmly opposed by the people,” a representative of a social organisation said. 
Local markets in several towns have seen awareness drives, with posters and appeals urging shopkeepers and consumers to avoid Bangladeshi products. Traders’ associations have also discussed sourcing alternatives from within India, especially from local producers and other northeastern states.
