The South Changoubung Baptist Church (SCBC) Women’s Department marked a major milestone as it celebrated 75 years of spiritual and social service with a two-day Platinum Jubilee programme in Kangpokpi district. The celebrations concluded on January 15 with prayer, reflection and renewed commitment to faith and community service.

The Platinum Jubilee was formally inaugurated with a solemn opening programme that focused on thanksgiving and remembrance of God’s guidance over the past seven and a half decades. The programme began with an opening prayer, thanking God for His grace and strength that has sustained the Women’s Department through generations of service and sacrifice.

The Church Chairman, in his welcome address, recalled the long journey of the Women’s Department and spoke about the faith, discipline and unity that have shaped its growth since its early days. He highlighted the important role played by women in nurturing spiritual life within the church and the wider community.

A key moment of the ceremony was the hoisting of the Jubilee flag by Chief Guest Rev. Thangsat Kipgen on behalf of Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen. The flag hoisting officially marked the beginning of the Platinum Jubilee year. This was followed by the release of Jubilee balloons and a gun salute, adding dignity to the occasion.

The implantation of the Jubilee flag by guests and contingents symbolised continuity and shared responsibility in carrying forward Christian values. The Jubilee Choir presented the theme song based on the theme “The Lord Is My Banner” from Exodus 17:15.

Another important highlight was the ribbon cutting and dedication of the Jubilee Hall by Pastor Songthang Lotzem. The hall was dedicated for worship and community activities, with prayers offered for continued unity and service.

In her keynote address, Women’s Department Chairperson Kimlam Vaiphei spoke about the contribution of women in strengthening the church’s spiritual and moral foundation, giving credit to God’s guidance for every achievement.
