Raijor Dal President and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi said that his party does not see the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) as a political ally. He said that the AIUDF follows communal politics and therefore cannot be part of any alliance with them ahead of the coming Assembly elections in Assam.
Gogoi was speaking to reporters when he shared his views on political ties, alliance structure, and distribution of party tickets. He said that political decisions should be taken calmly and carefully, and not in haste or through public statements.
Gogoi stated that he agrees with Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on the point that AIUDF cannot be treated as a normal opposition partner. He said, “We do not have any alliance or friendship with opposition parties under the AIUDF. The AIUDF is a communal party.” He added that he fully supports the stand taken by Gaurav Gogoi on this matter.
At the same time, he also reacted to comments made by Gaurav Gogoi regarding Congress contesting in all constituencies. Akhil Gogoi said that alliance partners must speak to each other internally and not through the media. According to him, decisions on seat sharing and candidate selection should come after detailed internal talks.
He said that if parties wish to work together, the process should remain organised and respectful. “If an alliance is to function properly, ticket distribution should not be done publicly but through thorough internal discussions,” he said. He stressed that such discussions should be held within party forums, coordination committees, or agreed platforms.
Akhil Gogoi also appealed to leaders, members, and supporters of political parties to speak in a responsible way. He said that public remarks should not hurt others or create unnecessary tension. “I humbly request everyone not to say anything that may hurt anyone’s feelings. Let us show respect for each individual and maintain restraint while making public remarks,” he said.
He also highlighted the need for party harmony. According to him, disagreements within or between parties should be settled internally and calmly. This, he said, will help reduce confusion among workers and supporters on the ground.
