The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has started preparing for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, according to party sources. On Monday, the party announced a list of candidates for several constituencies across the state. Party chief Badruddin Ajmal will contest from the Binnakandi constituency. With this announcement, AIUDF has begun its early push ahead of the polls that are expected next year.

Badruddin Ajmal’s decision to contest the Assembly elections himself is seen as an important step for the party, party officials said. So far, Ajmal has mostly led from Parliament and through party organisation.

Apart from Binnakandi, the party declared its candidates for constituencies spread across middle and lower Assam. In Dhing constituency, the AIUDF candidate will be Matiur Rahman. In Rupohi, the party has selected Aminul Islam as its nominee. Siddique Ahmed will contest from Laharighat. In Dalgon constituency, the party has named Majibur Rahman.
