Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, reassigning some important portfolios among four ministers of the state government. The decision, which took effect on Saturday evening, comes as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to streamline governance and strengthen departmental coordination.
As part of the reshuffle, Charan Boro, who recently took oath as a minister in the Assam Cabinet, has been assigned two key portfolios — Bodoland Welfare and Transport. This marks his first major cabinet responsibility, signaling growing political trust and representation for the Bodoland region within the state government. Both these departments were earlier handled by senior ministers U. G. Brahma and Jogen Mohan.
According to the official notification, U. G. Brahma, who previously managed the Bodoland Welfare department, will continue to look after the Handloom, Textiles and Sericulture, and Soil Conservation departments. On the other hand, Jogen Mohan, who earlier held the Transport portfolio, will now retain his existing departments — Hill Areas, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith and Culture — while also taking on additional charge of Co-operation and Public Works (Buildings & National Highways).
Meanwhile, Nandita Gorlosa continues with her current portfolios of Sports and Youth Welfare, as well as Welfare of Minorities and Development, with no changes made to her responsibilities. The government has clarified that all other departmental assignments remain unchanged following this reshuffle.
