BJP rule not permanent, says Manipur CLP leader Ibobi Singh BJP rule not permanent, says Manipur CLP leader Ibobi Singh

Manipur Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said on Sunday that the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the country and the state is “not permanent.” He said this while speaking at a programme organised to mark the 140th foundation day of the Indian National Congress.

Addressing party workers, Ibobi Singh said that governments change with time, and people will get a chance to decide who should rule during elections. He said that the BJP may be in power today, but that does not mean it will continue forever.

“BJP is not permanent. How long will they govern? Let us see how long they will dictate. Let’s wait for the elections,” he said.

Ibobi Singh, who has served as Chief Minister three times, said he believes peace and coexistence will become stronger if the Congress regains its strength in Manipur and across the country. He urged party members to work together and rebuild the organisation at all levels.

He also criticised the present situation in the state, saying that several departments have become inactive during the past three years. According to him, the financial condition of the state has nearly collapsed, affecting administration and development activities.

The CLP leader said that the Congress has a long history in India and in Manipur. He reminded party workers that the party had guided the country through many important periods in the past. He added that the Congress organisation must stay connected with the people and listen to their problems in a simple and sincere way.

The foundation day event was attended by party leaders, workers and supporters.
