Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach turned into a scene of fear and chaos on Sunday evening after a suspected mass shooting left at least ten people dead and several others injured, according to police and local media reports. Authorities said the incident took place during a crowded evening, forcing hundreds of people to run for safety as gunfire echoed near the beachfront.
Police believe the attack was targeted and occurred near Bondi Beach Park, close to a children’s playground, where a Jewish Hanukkah celebration was taking place. Investigators said early information suggests the incident may have been planned in advance, though officials stressed that the investigation is still at an early stage.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after reports of gunshots began coming in. Within minutes, police sealed off the area and urged people to leave the beach and nearby streets or take shelter wherever possible. Beachgoers, families, and tourists were seen fleeing in different directions as confusion spread. 
According to police, one of the suspected gunmen was killed at the scene during the operation. Another was shot by police and later taken into custody. He is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard. Authorities said they are not ruling out the possibility that more people could be involved and are continuing to search the area carefully.
As a precaution, bomb disposal teams were called in following an unconfirmed report of a suspicious object under a nearby pedestrian bridge. Police said there is no confirmation of an explosive device so far, but the area remains restricted as checks continue.
Several videos circulating on social media showed disturbing scenes from the incident. In one clip, a bystander is seen confronting one of the attackers, managing to wrestle a firearm away. In another video, police officers are seen performing CPR on victims lying on the ground, while others run to safety as gunshots can be heard in the background. Witnesses claimed that more than one firearm was used during the attack.
