Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president, Congress deputy leader and Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday announced the launch of a statewide public outreach journey titled “Raijor Padulit, Raijor Congress”, aimed at directly involving people in shaping the party’s future roadmap for Assam.
Addressing the initiative, Gogoi said the programme has been started with the clear intention of listening to the voices of people from all sections of society and reflecting their hopes, aspirations and suggestions in the Congress party’s manifesto. He said the party believes that real planning for Assam’s future can only be done by sitting together with the people and understanding their everyday concerns.
Under this initiative, the Congress plans to interact closely with farmers, workers, students, small shopkeepers, entrepreneurs, women, respected members of society, intellectuals and various social organisations. Gogoi said these interactions will help the party draw upon the knowledge, talent and experience of the people to prepare a collective blueprint for building a new Assam.
He said the journey is not limited to physical meetings alone. To ensure wider participation, the party has launched a dedicated website, www.natunaxom.com, which has been opened to the public. Through this platform, people from across Assam can submit their suggestions along with their names and addresses. The aim, he said, is to ensure that voices from every corner of the state are heard and recorded.
As a first step in this process, Gogoi said the party is seeking public guidance on Assam’s higher education system, which he described as closely linked to the state’s human resource development. He said higher education plays a key role in shaping the future of young people and, therefore, needs urgent attention.
Sharing his personal experiences, Gogoi said that during his interactions with students from colleges and universities in different parts of Assam, he realised that there is still a lot that needs to be done to improve the quality of higher education in the state. He said students continue to face several challenges related to academic standards, infrastructure, opportunities for research and overall learning environment.
He stressed that greater importance must be given to research and innovation in higher education institutions. According to him, encouraging research-based learning and innovative thinking is essential if Assam wants to prepare its youth for future challenges. He also highlighted the need to focus on making students self-reliant by linking education with skills, practical exposure and employment opportunities.
Gogoi appealed to students, teachers, educationists and parents to actively take part in this consultation process. He urged them to visit www.natunaxom.com and submit their valuable suggestions on higher education, along with their names and addresses. He said all inputs received through the platform would be carefully studied and considered while preparing the party’s policy direction.
The Congress leader said the “Raijor Padulit, Raijor Congress” journey is based on the belief that governance and policy-making should not be limited to closed rooms. Instead, he said, it should be shaped through open dialogue with the people who are directly affected by these policies.
He added that the party wants to build a culture of participation, where people feel that their opinions matter and that they are partners in the planning process. According to Gogoi, such collective planning is essential to build trust and create policies that truly reflect public needs.
Calling upon the people of Assam to join the initiative, Gogoi said, “Come, let us all together become partners in the planning process to build a new Assam.” He said the success of the journey depends on active public participation and honest feedback.
