The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has announced the launch of a new statewide political outreach programme titled ‘Raijor Podulit, Raijor Congress’, which will begin from December 20. The initiative marks a renewed attempt by the party to reconnect with people at the grassroots level ahead of the upcoming political battles in the state.

According to party leaders, the programme is designed to take Congress leaders and workers directly to villages across Assam. Teams will visit households, local meetings, and community spaces to listen to people’s everyday problems, concerns, and expectations. The feedback collected during these visits will be used to shape the party’s future strategy and policies.

Congress leaders said the idea behind the initiative is to build what they described as a “New Assam” by placing public opinion at the centre of politics. Rather than relying only on rallies or speeches, the party plans to focus on direct conversations with citizens, especially in rural areas where issues related to land, employment, welfare benefits, and basic services continue to remain sensitive.

As part of the programme, the Congress will also launch a new website, www.notunasom.com
. The platform is aimed mainly at the younger generation and first-time voters. Through the website, young people will be able to share ideas, suggestions, and opinions on how Assam should move forward in areas such as education, employment, governance, and social harmony. Party leaders said the digital initiative is meant to give youth a formal space to engage with politics beyond social media.

In addition, the Congress leadership will hold a series of meetings with youth representatives in Guwahati. These interactions are expected to focus on understanding the aspirations of students, job seekers, and young professionals, many of whom have been vocal about unemployment and lack of opportunities in recent years.

On the political front, party sources clarified that discussions related to seat sharing for the next elections are currently taking place within the party. However, they stressed that no decision has been finalised and no information will be made public until a clear consensus is reached. The leadership said speculation around alliances and seat arrangements should be avoided at this stage.

The party also said that there is no possibility of an alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). Congress leaders categorically ruled out any collaboration, stating that the party will move forward independently based on its own organisational strength and public support.

Commenting on the current political situation, senior Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi claimed that dissatisfaction is growing among BJP workers at the ground level. He alleged that many party workers are unhappy due to delays in receiving government benefits and unresolved land allotment issues. According to him, such grievances are quietly building pressure within the ruling party’s own ranks.

On the National Herald case, Gogoi said the court has dismissed attempts to malign Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. He alleged that the BJP is trying to use central agencies and legal cases for political purposes. “In Delhi, the BJP is afraid of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi,” he said, accusing the ruling party of diverting attention from governance issues.
