Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi said that Assam will always remain a land of rich culture, harmony and shared heritage. He said that the spirit of Assam cannot be changed by any person or any statement, and the identity of the state will forever belong to its people.

In his remarks, Gogoi spoke about the cultural and historical legacy of Assam. He said Assam has always been known as the land of Srimanta Sankardeva and Azan Fakir. He also recalled the contributions of Madhabdev, Ahom general Bir Chilarai, and the founder of the Ahom kingdom, Sukapha. Gogoi further mentioned the works of cultural icons like Jyotiprasad Agarwala, Laxminath Bezbaruah and music legend Bhupen Hazarika.

He also remembered freedom fighters Swahid Kushal Konwar and Swahid Kamala Miri, saying that their sacrifices remain an important part of Assam’s history. According to Gogoi, all these names together represent the real identity of Assam; a land that belongs to everyone. He added that Assam is “our land, our Axom, our Bor Axom,” and that people of the state will always stay connected to this shared legacy.

Gogoi also criticised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said that whatever the Chief Minister says will not change the identity of Assam. He further said that the words of the Chief Minister do not hold much value in the eyes of the people. Gogoi accused the Chief Minister of being more interested in issues like syndicates, toll, coal and tea garden dealings rather than the real concerns of the state.

The Assam Congress president said that what truly matters is the unity of the people. He said the people of Assam will stand together and work for the welfare of everyone in the state, including bhumiputra, khilonjiya and Axombaxi communities. He added that Assam has always been a place where different groups live together and support one another.

Gogoi said the Congress party believes that the identity of Assam is rooted in inclusion, mutual respect and cultural pride. He said the future of the state must be built on this foundation. He also said the party will continue to speak for the interests of local people and ensure that the rich heritage of Assam is protected.

He said that unity is important at a time when political differences are high. According to him, the people of Assam should not be divided along social, cultural or regional lines. Instead, he urged that everyone should focus on peace, brotherhood and development.
