A Hindu businessman, who was also working as the acting editor of a newspaper, was shot dead by unidentified men in Jessore district of Bangladesh. The incident took place on Monday and has created shock and concern among local residents, according to reports from Dhaka.
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Rana Pratap Bairagi. He was a resident of Arua village in Keshabpur upazila under Jessore district in the Khulna Division. The information was first reported by the Bangla-language daily Prothom Alo.

According to local media, Bairagi was shot in the head by unknown attackers. He was taken to a hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Police have started an investigation but the identity of the attackers has not yet been confirmed.

Bairagi owned an ice-making factory at Kopaliya Bazar in Monirampur area. Along with running his business, he was also serving as the acting editor of a newspaper titled Dainik BD Khabar, which is published from Narail. People who knew him said he was active in both business and local media work.
