The district administration of Hojai has ordered the deportation of two men who were earlier declared foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunal. The orders were issued from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Hojai on Friday. With this step, the district administration has made it clear that it will strictly follow the law in matters related to identification of foreigners in the district.

According to the orders, the two men have been asked to be deported not only from Assam but also from India. The two persons are Abdul Karim, aged 52 years, and Abdul Qadir, aged 66 years. Both of them are residents of Hojai district but were earlier declared foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunal after legal proceedings.

As per official records, Abdul Karim is a resident of Juthan Basti under Lanka Police Station. He was declared a foreigner by the Foreigners Tribunal in 2012. The second person, Abdul Qadir, is a resident of Saharan village under Murajhar Police Station. He was declared a foreigner in 2008. After these orders from the tribunal, the administration has now taken further steps for their deportation.

The development was confirmed by Hojai Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati. Speaking to the media, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration is acting as per law and following the procedures laid down by the authorities.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been issued by the government for handling such cases. Based on this SOP, the Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed district authorities to take necessary action in cases where individuals have already been declared foreigners by the tribunal.

DC Bhagawati said that in Hojai district, orders have been issued against two persons in line with this instruction. He explained that the Superintendent of Police is also involved in the process and arrangements are being made regarding detention and further formalities as per the rules.

He added that the detection of illegal foreigners is not a one-time action but a continuous process. Border police and other agencies keep investigating doubtful cases. Many such cases are still pending before the Foreigners Tribunal, and these will be decided in due course of time through the legal system.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that the administration is only carrying out actions that are required under law and government guidelines. He stressed that the tribunal’s decision is final in such matters, and once a person is declared a foreigner, the administration has to act on it.
