Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs from Manipur, including former chief minister N Biren Singh, left Imphal for New Delhi on Friday to attend a meeting convened by the party’s central leadership on December 14. The meeting comes at a crucial time as the state continues to face political uncertainty and remains without a clear roadmap for stable governance.

The departure of the entire BJP legislative contingent has drawn attention, as political circles closely watch for signals on whether the party is preparing to move ahead with the formation of a new government in Manipur. While no official agenda has been made public, the timing of the meeting has led to widespread speculation.

Several MLAs spoke briefly to the media before leaving Imphal, expressing hope that the discussions in Delhi would lead to a positive outcome for the state. However, they maintained that the exact purpose of the meeting would only become clear after interacting with the party leadership.

Another MLA, Usham Deben, said there was a possibility that a government could be formed either in the last week of December or the first week of January, though he stopped short of making any firm claim.

MLA Khumukcham Joykishan also said that no formal communication had been given to them about the agenda, but acknowledged that the meeting was most likely related to government formation.

Besides N Biren Singh, BJP MLAs who have left for New Delhi include Achab Uddin, Sagolsem Kebi, Thongam Bishwajit, Paonam Brojen, Kh Ibomcha, Thokchom Satyabrata, K Robindro and Tongbram Robindro, along with other party legislators.
