In a notable political development in Nagaland, a total of 417 individuals, led by Tumda Newme, former Independent candidate and one of the founding members of Peren Division NDPP, formally joined the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) in a mass induction event held here today.

Addressing the gathering, Tumda Newme expressed concern over the current state government, stating that it has become distant from the day-to-day struggles of ordinary citizens. “People are facing real problems, but those in power seem unaware or unconcerned,” he said. Newme emphasized his commitment to the Congress as a party that stands for justice, fairness, and inclusive growth for all sections of society.

NPCC President S. Supongmeren Jamir warmly welcomed the new members and highlighted the importance of coming together as a united force ahead of the 2028 state elections. He urged party workers and citizens alike to reject short-term monetary inducements and instead focus on supporting initiatives and leadership that bring real development to the state. “Our goal is to strengthen grassroots democracy and ensure that every citizen’s voice is heard,” Jamir added.
