PMO sending resumes, not holding dialogue: Gaurav Gogoi on BJP appointment PMO sending resumes, not holding dialogue: Gaurav Gogoi on BJP appointment

Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party’s decision to appoint Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin as its national working president and raised questions about the way the decision was taken.

Reacting to the appointment, Gogoi alleged that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) was sending the resume and background details of the newly appointed working president to select sections of the media to justify the decision before party workers. He said this itself shows that the BJP leadership does not believe in dialogue or consultation with its own workers.

“Shame. A leadership that does not even believe in having a dialogue with its own workers while choosing a president,” Gogoi said. He added that instead of engaging with party cadres and explaining the decision internally, the BJP leadership was relying on media briefings to manage reactions.

Gogoi further said that such a top-down approach reflects how the ruling party functions at the national level. According to him, decisions are taken by a small group at the top, without the participation of ordinary citizens or even party workers who form the backbone of any political organisation.

“This is how they want to run the country—through whims and fancies, without any participation of the ordinary Indian citizen in decisions that matter to them,” he said.

The Congress leader also questioned the lack of transparency in the appointment process. He said that important organisational positions in a national party should be decided through discussion, consultation and respect for internal democratic processes.
