Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has announced that the work to build the ‘One North East’ collective is moving ahead quickly, with several key regional and tribal parties agreeing to come together on one platform. He said this new collective is not a merger of parties but a united front to strengthen the voice of the northeastern states in Delhi, especially on issues such as land rights, identity protection, and the rights of indigenous communities.

Pradyot said that the effort has grown faster than he expected. According to him, the aim is simple; to make sure that the problems of the people come before political banners and party differences. He said leaders across the region have shown interest in working together on a common policy approach that will benefit the entire Northeast.

The push for this broader regional unity will take a major step forward on November 27, when a large unity rally will be held at Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala. The event is expected to draw senior leaders from several northeastern states. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will be one of the key figures attending the rally. Leaders from Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, and different autonomous councils are also likely to participate.

People close to the development said that discussions are already underway to form a policy framework that can be taken to the Centre. The idea is to work together on long-term solutions rather than raise issues in isolation. Pradyot said that only a united voice can make Delhi understand the concerns of the region in a stronger and clearer way.

He also added that the unity effort is focused on respect for identity and protection of land rights, which have remained major concerns across tribal and regional communities in the Northeast. By joining hands, these parties believe they will be able to negotiate better with the Centre and push for outcomes that protect local interests.
