President Droupadi Murmu begins a two-day visit to Manipur today, during which she will take part in several important programmes across the state. The visit will focus on cultural events, public interactions, and the launch of developmental projects aimed at improving infrastructure and services in Manipur.

The President will arrive in Imphal this afternoon, where she will be given a traditional guard of honour at the airport. Soon after, she will visit Mapal Kangjeibung, one of the oldest polo grounds in the world. Here, she will watch a polo exhibition match organised to showcase Manipur’s strong connection with the sport. Polo has deep cultural roots in the state, and the event has been organised to highlight this unique heritage before the President.

In the evening, President Murmu will attend a civic reception hosted by the Manipur government at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. During the programme, she is expected to lay the foundation stones and inaugurate a number of development projects. These projects are aimed at improving facilities in different sectors and are seen as part of the government’s larger effort to support growth and stability in the region.

Tomorrow, the President will begin her day by visiting the Nupee Lal Memorial complex in Imphal. She will pay tribute to the women of Manipur who took part in the Nupee Lal movements, which hold an important place in the history of the state. The visit is expected to underline her respect for the contribution of Manipuri women to social and political movements.

Later in the day, President Murmu will travel to Senapati district. There, she will address a public gathering and interact with local residents. She will also lay the foundation stones and inaugurate several projects meant to support development in the district. These initiatives are expected to improve local infrastructure and create new opportunities for the people of the area.
