President Droupadi Murmu visited Senapati in Manipur and spent time with a few Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) on Thursday. During her interaction, she assured them that the Government of India is taking several steps to support families affected by the ongoing situation in the state. She said the government is working to provide education for students, create job opportunities for the youth, and help people rebuild their houses and livelihoods. She also spoke about the need for proper skill development so that young people can find work and move forward in life.
At the meeting, the President stressed that harmony and unity are important for the people of Manipur. She said that only through continuous dialogue and understanding can long-term peace and prosperity be achieved. According to her, the people of Manipur have always shown resilience, and their ability to live together with respect will help the state recover faster.
President Murmu later attended a public function in Senapati where she laid foundation stones and inaugurated several development projects. She said these projects reflect the commitment of the Government of India toward the growth and needs of the people of Manipur. She added that the Centre understands the aspirations of the state and will continue to support development works that can improve daily life.
The President urged all communities in Manipur to keep supporting peace efforts and to stand together for reconciliation. She said that Manipur’s true strength lies in its diversity — its many cultures, languages, and traditions. She noted that the hills and the valley have always complemented each other and described them as two sides of the same beautiful land.
During her address, she also highlighted the importance of dignity, security, and equal growth opportunities for tribal communities. She said ensuring their participation in the country’s progress is a national priority and that the government will continue to work for their welfare.
