Rajor Dal has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging a serious conspiracy to illegally delete voters from the electoral rolls in Assam ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. The party has claimed that nearly 10,000 opposition voters per Assembly constituency could be targeted under the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) process.
In a written complaint submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner, Rajor Dal president Akhil Gogoi alleged that the plan was discussed during a virtual meeting of senior BJP leaders held on January 4, 2026, between 8.01 pm and 8.41 pm. According to the complaint, the meeting involved the BJP’s state president and cabinet ministers.
The complaint states that instructions were allegedly issued to prepare lists of legal voters who did not support the BJP, with directions to submit booth-wise names for deletion across 60 Assembly constituencies. The responsibility of executing the deletions was allegedly assigned to a senior cabinet minister, the letter claims.
Rajor Dal said the alleged plan came to light after the party accessed the virtual meeting through the account of a BJP worker who had been invited to the conference. Gogoi claimed he publicly disclosed the matter through a Facebook Live on January 5, followed by a press conference at Circuit House, Dibrugarh, on January 6.
The party further alleged that despite raising the issue, the response from the Chief Minister and other cabinet ministers failed to address the specific charge of targeted voter deletion based on political affiliation. It also accused the BJP leadership of refusing to release the video recording of the January 4 meeting.
In its complaint, Rajor Dal said such actions amount to violations of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, misuse of official machinery, breach of the Model Code of Conduct, and denial of citizens’ fundamental right to vote.
The party has demanded an immediate independent inquiry into the alleged meeting, seizure of digital records and communication logs, a detailed audit of voter deletion applications filed in recent months, and public disclosure of deleted voter lists at polling booth level.
Rajor Dal also urged the Election Commission to halt the Special Summary Revision process in Assam, citing the state’s sensitive political and social conditions. The party said the integrity of the 2026 Assembly elections depends on a neutral and transparent voter list and called for swift action to prevent what it described as “electoral engineering.”
