All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam while reacting to recent arrests linked to an alleged Pakistani espionage and smuggling network said that RSS has links with Muslim League . Speaking during a visit to Moirabari, the legislator said that those involved in activities connected with Pakistan should be punished strictly, irrespective of their religion or political background.
Islam’s remarks came in the backdrop of recent arrests, including that of a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) officer, Kulendra Sarma, and others accused of having links with Pakistan. Referring to these developments, the AIUDF MLA claimed that several individuals from different security forces had been found involved in such activities over the years.
“We have seen many officers from the Indian Air Force, the Border Security Force, and the Army being arrested in cases related to Pakistan,” Islam said. He further claimed that a large number of people caught in smuggling and espionage-related cases belonged to the Hindu community, with many arrests reported from states like Rajasthan and Gujarat.
According to Aminul Islam, “Of those arrested for smuggling with Pakistan, 99 per cent are Hindus. Many of them are linked to the RSS and the BJP.” He alleged that despite these arrests, political narratives often target Muslims while ignoring the involvement of others.
The MLA also made a controversial claim about ideological connections, stating that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has historic links with the Muslim League. “RSS has long-standing links with the Muslim League,” he alleged, without providing further details to support the claim.
Islam accused members associated with the BJP and RSS of engaging in smuggling activities with Pakistan while simultaneously portraying Muslims in a negative light. He said this approach was unfair and misleading. “BJP and RSS members engage in smuggling with Pakistan while consistently maligning Muslims,” he alleged.
Stressing the need for equal treatment under the law, Aminul Islam said that action should be taken purely on the basis of evidence. “Those arrested for smuggling with Pakistan should face strict punishment, regardless of whether they are Hindu or Muslim,” he said. He added that national security issues should not be politicised or communalised.
During his interaction with local residents in Moirabari, the MLA emphasised accountability and transparency in investigations related to foreign links and espionage. He said that the government must ensure that no one is protected because of political affiliation or religious identity.
“The country’s security is above politics,” Islam said. “Anyone who helps a foreign country or works against India must be punished. There should be no double standards.”
