Samujjal Bhattacharya calls for peace in Zubeen Garg justice movement

Bhattacharya stressed that the judicial process concerning the late artist must be fully transparent and swift.

Samujjal Bhattacharya, chief advisor of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), has urged all supporters of the ongoing Zubeen Garg justice movement to maintain complete non-violence in their actions. Speaking today, Bhattacharya emphasized that any violent acts could harm the movement and give the authorities a chance to take strict measures against protesters.

“Every step taken in memory of the late singer must remain peaceful and non-violent,” Bhattacharya said. “Resorting to violence will only weaken our cause and disrespect his legacy.”

Bhattacharya stressed that the judicial process concerning the late artist must be fully transparent and swift. He expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation but warned that public patience and discipline were crucial to ensure justice is delivered properly.

The AASU advisor also highlighted recent incidents in Baksa district, where protesters faced lathi charges, stone-pelting, and even firing. He called on both the public and authorities to ensure that the situation does not escalate further and that investigations into these incidents are conducted thoroughly.

“The main goal of the movement should not change,” he said. “People must continue to demand justice firmly but without any violence. Only then can we honor Zubeen Garg and ensure a fair outcome.”
