Popular Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam visited the revered Maa Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on Sunday morning to seek blessings ahead of his much-awaited musical concert in the city.

The singer offered prayers at the hilltop shrine before heading into final preparations for his special live programme titled “Deewana Tera”, which is scheduled to be held later in the day at Greenwood Resort on the outskirts of Guwahati. The visit to the temple marked the beginning of his performance day in Assam.

Sonu Nigam arrived in Guwahati from New Delhi on Saturday for a two-day visit. His arrival created excitement among music lovers in the city, with fans eagerly waiting to see him perform live. According to sources close to the event, the concert is expected to draw a large audience from Guwahati and nearby areas.

Apart from his performance, the singer is also expected to visit Zubeen Kshetra at Sonapur later today. The visit holds emotional significance, as Sonu Nigam has shared a long personal and professional bond with popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.

Speaking to media persons after his arrival in Guwahati on Saturday, Sonu Nigam spoke warmly about his friendship with Zubeen Garg, saying the two have known each other since 1997. He recalled several memories associated with Assam and said the state has always given him love and warmth.

“Ever since I met Zubeen in Assam, many memories have been attached to him. I still cannot understand what suddenly happened to him. The people of Assam have given Zubeen immense love,” Sonu Nigam said.
