The Winter Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly began today, bringing lawmakers back to the House for five working days of discussions, debates and the introduction of several new bills.
At the opening of the session, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged members of the opposition to give the government sufficient time to respond to queries. “The more the opposition raises questions, we are ready to answer all. We only request that we be given time to do so,” the Chief Minister said.
Speaker Biswajit Daimary addressed the House regarding discussions on the ongoing investigation into the death of popular singer Zubeen Garg. He cautioned that some matters related to the case are sub judice and under inquiry. “Members must ensure that their speeches do not interfere with the investigation. Everyone must maintain decorum while discussing this sensitive issue,” Daimary said. 
The session will run for five working days and is expected to cover key policy discussions, governance issues, and the introduction of multiple bills. Lawmakers will deliberate on public welfare initiatives, infrastructure projects, and other important matters affecting the state.
