Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur Goswami has launched a direct attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. She said the Chief Minister is trying to divert public attention by calling political opponents “anti-national”, instead of answering real questions and ensuring justice in serious matters. She said the public is watching everything and people are not foolish.
Mira Borthakur said she did not come to fight or argue, but came only to ask three very clear and serious questions that the Chief Minister must answer honestly. She said these questions are not for politics, but for truth and accountability, because the people of Assam deserve clarity from the person who runs the state.
She said the first question is regarding Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. She said the Chief Minister has called Gaurav Gogoi a “Pakistani agent” in public, and repeated this claim many times. According to her, if the Chief Minister really believed that Gogoi is working for Pakistan, then action should have been taken immediately under national security laws.
“If you believe Gaurav Gogoi is a Pakistan agent, then why did you not arrest him? Why only speeches and attacks in media? Calling someone anti-national without proof is not leadership. It is irresponsible and dangerous,” she said.
She also said that if a Chief Minister calls someone an enemy of the country, and then takes no action, it is not only careless but also misleading to the public. She said the Chief Minister must show evidence if he has any, and if not, he must stop using such serious words for political advantage.
Her second question was regarding the death of beloved singer Zubeen Garg. She said that Himanta Biswa Sarma himself had once said that Zubeen Garg was murdered. She reminded that he had promised that the truth would come out and the guilty would be punished. She said this was a very emotional matter for the people of Assam, and not something to be taken lightly.
“When Zubeen Garg passed away, you said he was murdered. You said justice will be done. Today the people of Assam want to know — what happened to that investigation? Why is the focus shifting? If you truly want justice, then show progress. Do not change the subject when people start asking questions,” she said.
Mira Borthakur said this issue is close to every Assamese heart, and no one should use it for political drama. She said the government must show results and not only give statements. She also said that when someone dies in suspicious circumstances, and even the Chief Minister calls it murder, then silence later is painful for people who loved the person.
Her third question was about Assam minister Ashok Singhal. She asked how Singhal’s company was able to buy almost 340 bighas of land inside a Tribal Belt area. She said common Assamese people struggle for land in protected zones, yet a minister’s company managed to buy a huge amount of land without difficulty.
“Under which law was his company allowed to buy this land? Who gave permission? How did this happen so smoothly when common people face restrictions and rejection in such areas?” she asked.
Mira Borthakur said the government talks a lot about honesty and fairness, but real honesty means actions must match words. She said the government cannot preach clean politics while avoiding questions on land, justice, and national security claims.
She also said that the Chief Minister often mocks others by saying they need memory tablets. She said maybe it is the Chief Minister who needs to remember his own words and promises. She said it is not right to insult critics or use government machinery and social media teams to troll people who ask questions.
“No matter how much trolling happens, people are not scared anymore. The youth of Assam, the families of Assam, everyone is watching. The public wants truth, not drama. The public wants justice, not slogans,” she added.

She also made a sharp remark about the Chief Minister’s past outings. She asked whether the Chief Minister felt no security threat when he went to watch The Kashmir Files in a cinema hall, suggesting that his statements about “national enemies everywhere” do not match his actions.
Mira Borthakur said that she does not want conflict but wants answers, because democracy means leaders must answer questions from citizens. She said she will continue to speak strongly for the people of Assam and she will not be silenced by trolling or pressure.
“We are not asking for fights. We are asking for answers. The Chief Minister cannot escape these questions. The truth will always come out, and the people of Assam are not silent anymore,” she said.
