Bokakhat has once again made its mark in the field of women’s cricket. The town, which earlier gained recognition after national player Uma Chetry’s rise, is celebrating another proud moment. This time, three young women cricketers from Bokakhat have been selected to play for Assam in the upcoming BCCI Under-19 Women’s One Day Tournament.

The players Laxmipriya Chetiya, Tinamoni Patgiri, and Dolly Kardong—have been recognised as some of the most promising young talents from the region. Their selection is being seen as a major achievement not only for them but also for Bokakhat, which has slowly become a strong hub for nurturing women’s cricket in Assam.

The Assam team will take part in the BCCI U-19 Women’s One Day Tournament, which is scheduled to be held in Trivandrum from December 13, 2025. Playing on a national platform is expected to give the three players important exposure and real match experience against strong teams from across the country. Coaches say the tournament will help them understand the higher level of competition and prepare them for future challenges.
