A prisoner escaped from Haflong Civil Hospital this morning, creating tension and concern among police officials and local people. The escaped prisoner has been identified as Ronaldo Haflongbar, a resident of Gunzung village in Dima Hasao district.

According to official sources, Ronaldo Haflongbar was serving punishment in Haflong jail under Section 109 (BNS) for a case related to physical assault. Jail authorities informed that he had been taken to Haflong Civil Hospital on December 21, 2025, after he complained of health problems while in custody.

Police officials said that even at the time of the escape, the prisoner had handcuffs on his legs. The escape reportedly took place in the early hours of Monday, when security personnel were present in the hospital premises. How the prisoner managed to flee despite handcuffs and security is now under scrutiny.

After the incident, senior police officers rushed to the hospital and reviewed the situation. A search operation has been launched in and around Haflong town, nearby villages, forests, and roads connecting different areas. Police sources said patrolling has been intensified, and teams have been deployed at key exit points.
