A month has passed since the untimely demise of Assam’s beloved singer and cultural icon, Zubeen Garg, yet the void he left behind is still deeply felt across the state. From bustling towns to quiet villages, from homes to hearts, the memories of his music and his presence continue to echo in every corner.
For his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, the journey through this immense loss has been both personal and spiritual. On social media, she shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late husband, expressing her enduring connection with him. She wrote, “You are here… you will always be here. This is not just imagination; it is a bond of souls that flows beyond lifetimes. You will speak for me… you will light the path and guide my steps, I know you will. My divine man… I know you will always protect me.” Her words have touched thousands of fans, reflecting a love that transcends life and death.
Across Assam, the mourning of Zubeen Garg continues with undiminished intensity. Fans have organised memorial services, silent candlelight vigils, and soulful ‘naam-prasangas’ to celebrate his life and music. On Sunday, October 19, Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur became a sanctuary of remembrance. Hundreds of fans and residents of Dimoria gathered for a special month-long ‘shraddha’ ceremony. The day began with a ‘Gita Path’, followed by ‘Sarva Dharma Prarthana’ and ‘naam-prasanga’, reflecting the spiritual harmony and secular values that Zubeen embodied.
