The situation in Baksa turned tense on Wednesday as a protest outside the Baksa District Jail escalated into violence, leaving at least 28 people injured and prompting police to detain 10–15 individuals. Authorities have warned that more arrests are likely as the investigation into the unrest continues.
The clashes broke out unexpectedly, catching both law enforcement and protesters off guard. Injuries were reported among police personnel, journalists covering the event, and civilians who were present near the jail premises. All the injured have been admitted to Mushalpur Civil Hospital for treatment, and the medical teams are working to ensure that everyone receives proper care.
Police sources said that the detainees are being questioned to determine the causes of the violent outbreak and to identify the key instigators. “We are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure that law and order is restored and that those responsible are held accountable,” an official said.
