Tezpur University is witnessing major administrative changes after serious allegations of unethical practices surfaced against some senior officials. Acting Registrar Pritam Dev has been relieved of his duties, while Dean of Students’ Welfare, Professor Shankar Chandra Dekai, has stepped down from his post, creating a wave of discussions among the university community.
According to official sources, Pritam Dev had written to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Raja Rafiqul Haque, requesting to be relieved from his responsibilities. The Acting Vice-Chancellor accepted his request, and the formal order relieving him was issued soon after. The university administration confirmed that this was part of a broader move to address internal issues that had been growing over the past few months.
The developments come at a time when the institution is dealing with several complaints and administrative challenges. Allegations of irregularities and unethical conduct had been doing the rounds, leading to growing unrest among faculty and staff members. The recent changes are seen by many as an attempt to bring back order and transparency within the university’s governance system.
