In a major development in the ongoing investigation related to late singer Zubeen Garg, the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell conducted a raid at the residence of Paresh Baishya, one of Garg’s government-appointed personal security officers (PSOs), following reports of financial irregularities amounting to nearly ₹1 crore. The operation, which began around 10 a.m. on Saturday, continued for several hours as officials meticulously combed through documents and bank records.
According to local sources, a 20-member team of Vigilance officials and police personnel carried out the raid at Baishya’s home in Sualkuchi, with assistance from the local police station. Village head of Sualkuchi stated, “The CM Vigilance team arrived around 9 a.m. and started searching Paresh Baishya’s residence. They collected documents, bank statements, and records of money transfers belonging to him and his family. Around 20 officers were involved in the operation.”
Paresh Baishya was not present at the residence during the raid, as he is currently in judicial custody in connection with other ongoing investigations. The search focused on scrutinizing financial transactions and verifying the source and purpose of funds traced in Baishya’s accounts.
Investigators reportedly discovered nearly ₹1 crore in suspicious transfers in the accounts of both PSOs assigned to Zubeen Garg. These findings emerged after the singer’s mysterious death, raising concerns about possible financial misconduct and prompting authorities to examine whether these transactions were connected to the circumstances surrounding Garg’s death or the misappropriation of his financial assets.
