Six leading student organisations in Manipur have strongly demanded that the printing press responsible for the state’s examinations be barred from handling any future work. The call comes after a major error in the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations led to the cancellation and postponement of two important papers.

In a joint press release, the presidents of All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF), Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA), Students’ Union of Kangleipak (SUK), Apunba Imagi Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS), and Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) expressed their deep concern over the incident. The student bodies described the mistake as a “serious and irresponsible act” that reflected poor supervision during the conduct of one of the state’s most important examinations.

The controversy erupted after the MPSC examination controller issued a notification on November 9 announcing the cancellation and postponement of Paper-III (General Studies III) and Paper-IV (General Studies IV) due to a printing error. These papers have now been rescheduled for November 22.

According to the student bodies, the mistake occurred on the last day of the main written examination, which was originally scheduled for November 7, 8, and 9. Candidates appearing for the morning session of November 9 were mistakenly given the question paper for Paper-V (General Studies IV), instead of Paper-IV (General Studies III) meant for that shift.

The student organisations warned that such negligence could seriously affect the credibility of MPSC and demotivate candidates who have been preparing rigorously for future roles as civil servants and bureaucrats. They emphasised the need for strict accountability and better supervision to prevent such errors in the future.
