The Meghalaya police were left angry and concerned after Tanjil Hussain, son of Member of Parliament Rakibul Hussain, was found driving his father’s official vehicle with the siren and MP name tag activated, while the MP himself was not in the car. The incident took place on the highways of Ri-Bhoi district, causing alarm among the police and local commuters.
According to police sources, officers stopped the vehicle after noticing the siren and the MP name tag in use. When questioned about the whereabouts of the MP, the driver informed the police that only Tanjil Hussain and a friend were in the car. The police then asked how it was possible for the official vehicle to have the siren and tag activated without the MP present.
The police further requested the driver’s license and other documents. After verification, a challan was issued in the name of the driver. Authorities also seized the vehicle temporarily, signaling strict action against misuse of official resources.
