While chasing, India showed steady confidence and reached the target in only 12.1 overs, losing just three wickets. The smooth chase reflected the team’s strong performance throughout the tournament.

This was the first edition of the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup. It was jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with matches played in Delhi, Bengaluru and Colombo. The wide spread of venues gave the event a larger international presence and helped bring more attention to blind women’s cricket.

Blind cricket is played in a special format. Each team has eleven players, and the game is played with a white plastic ball filled with ball bearings. The rattling sound produced by the ball helps visually impaired players understand its movement. The sport demands sharp listening, quick response, and strong teamwork.

The participation of Assam’s Simu Das among the Indian players made the win even more meaningful for the Northeast. Simu, who hails from Nagaon, has received warm appreciation from people across Assam. Many have praised her dedication and have called her a symbol of determination for young athletes in the state.
