BJP leader raises alarm: Leaked chargesheet versions helping accused in Zubeen case BJP leader raises alarm: Leaked chargesheet versions helping accused in Zubeen case

In a significant development in the alleged murder case of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, Assam Human Rights Commission Member and senior BJP leader Santanu Bharali has raised serious concerns about the way information related to the chargesheet is being circulated in public. He alleged that many versions of the chargesheet are already being published in different places even before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) files it officially. According to him, this situation may end up helping the accused persons instead of supporting the investigation.

Bharali said that he has seen different kinds of chargesheet-related information appearing on various platforms, and it has become difficult to understand which version is true and which one is false. He said that such confusion does not help the family of the victim, nor does it help the investigation agency that is working on the case. He expressed worry that premature publication of legal details may indirectly weaken the action that should be taken against those who are responsible for Zubeen Garg’s death.

Bharali further said that circulation of incomplete and confusing details at this stage can possibly harm the investigation process. According to him, people are sharing information without verifying it, and this can create wrong assumptions among the public. He said that the Court and the investigation authority should be the only places where official details are examined, and any parallel interpretation outside official channels can become harmful.

He pointed out that the SIT Chief has already stated that the chargesheet will be filed on December 12, and therefore, any unofficial discussion about its contents at this moment is not appropriate. He said that once the chargesheet is officially placed before the Court, only then should the details come out through proper legal procedures.

In addition to these concerns, Bharali also demanded that the Assam Government should immediately appoint a highly skilled and senior advocate for the case. He said the matter involves the alleged murder of a well-known artist, and therefore the legal representation must be strong and capable. According to him, only a proper advocate will be able to handle the legal process in a manner that ensures fair justice.

He also revealed that he wanted to personally speak with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and request him to appoint such an advocate for the case. Bharali said that despite his efforts, he has not yet been able to communicate his request directly to the Chief Minister. He added that the government should take this step independently and that a separate and expert advocate should be appointed only for this particular case so that the legal side becomes stronger when the matter enters the courtroom.

Bharali said that public sentiment is very strong in this case because Zubeen Garg was a respected figure in Assam and had a large fan following. He said that many people are still deeply upset about the circumstances of his death, and therefore, the legal side must be handled with complete seriousness and competence. He also said that when a case receives such large public attention, the government should make sure that no weakness remains in legal representation.

He further said that a good advocate can strongly represent the case in court and ensure that proper legal action is taken against those found responsible. “Only good advocates can give good results,” he said. He also said that he prays for justice and that whoever is responsible should face punishment according to the law.
