The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is set to begin the third phase of its state-wide outreach campaign, ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’, from January 3. The party is looking to increase its direct contact with people across Assam as preparations continue ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

The main aim of the campaign is to meet people at the village and block levels and understand their daily problems and expectations. The Congress plans to collect public opinion on issues such as jobs, education, health services, agriculture, price rise and overall governance. These public inputs will later be used to prepare a people-centric manifesto for the elections. The manifesto exercise is being guided by MP Pradyut Bordoloi, who is the Chairperson of the party’s Manifesto Committee.

As part of this phase, five separate teams of Congress leaders will travel from Guwahati to different regions of the state.

Group A, led by APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, will start its journey from Tinsukia and will later visit Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Golaghat, spending one day in each district. The team includes Roselina Tirkey, Arun Dutta Mazumdar, Gangajyoti Tayegam, Mausam Baruah and Abinash Gogoi, among others.

Group B, led by Bhupen Bora along with leaders such as Prithibi Majhi, Madhab Rajbangshi, Pradip Sarkar and Nandita Das, will travel through Udalguri, Tamulpur, Baksa and Nalbari.

Group C, consisting of leaders including Debabrata Saikia, Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Abdul Khaleque, Bitopan Saikia and Nirmal Langthasa, will cover South Salmara, Goalpara and Kamrup districts.

Group D will be led by Congress MP Rakibul Hussain and will include Jayanta Kalita, Soumya Kanti Purkayastha, Runumoni Bora and others. This team will travel through Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon.

Group E, led by Ripun Bora along with Nurul Huda, Mira Borthakur and Atuwa Munda among others, will visit Morigaon, Nagaon and Hojai districts.

All five teams will return to Guwahati on January 10 for a concluding programme. On that day, the party will hold a large consultation event where leaders, social organisations, professional bodies, workers’ groups and other representatives will come together to discuss various issues facing the state. Senior Congress leaders and committee chairpersons will also take part in these discussions.

APCC President Gaurav Gogoi said that the event is not just a closing ceremony but an important step in listening to the public. He said the party wants the manifesto to reflect real concerns from the ground level, including the voices of workers, professionals, civil society groups and others, so that the roadmap for Assam’s future is shaped directly by the people.

The ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’ campaign originally began from Dibrugarh with the central team led by Gaurav Gogoi and Pradyut Bordoloi. In the second phase, which started on December 20, the outreach covered more than 15 districts, including Upper Assam, Barak Valley and the hill districts. During this period, Congress leaders interacted with students, farmers, workers, women’s groups, traders and professionals.
