The investigation into the mysterious death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg has taken a significant turn, with Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandipan Garg being arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday. The arrest came shortly after Sandipan Garg arrived at the CID office for questioning, marking another major development in the high-profile case that has captured public attention across Assam and beyond.
Sandipan Garg, who is the cousin of the late singer, was reportedly on board the yacht in Singapore when the incident occurred. According to his official Facebook post, he stated, “I’ve fully cooperated with the SIT,” following a long and intensive interrogation by the investigative team.
Earlier this week, Sandipan Garg was among several individuals questioned by the SIT as part of their expanding probe into the circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg’s death. Following his arrest, he is expected to be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court later today.
The SIT’s investigation has already seen the arrest of four other individuals connected to the case. On October 1, two key figures were taken into custody: Siddharth Sharma, the late singer’s manager, and Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organiser of the Singapore event where the tragedy occurred. Both have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
