Assam Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi today expressed deep shock and sorrow after learning about the tragic accident at Chaglagam in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district, where more than 21 workers from Assam lost their lives. The incident occurred along the India-China border, and early reports described it as one of the most painful events in recent months involving labourers from the state.

According to media reports, the workers were taken from the Gelapukhuri tea estate in Tinsukia for construction-related work in the remote area. The workers were travelling in a dumper when the vehicle slipped off a hilly stretch and fell into a deep gorge, leading to the death of over 21 labourers. Several others were seriously injured.

Gaurav Gogoi said he was “deeply shocked and saddened” to hear about the accident, calling it a horrifying tragedy that has caused immense pain to families across Assam. He offered his deepest tributes to the workers who lost their lives and prayed for the quick recovery of those who were injured.

He also extended condolences to the families of the victims, saying this was a moment of great grief and that the families needed strength and support during this difficult time.

Gogoi urged the government and the district administration to take all necessary steps to bring back the bodies of the deceased workers and ensure that the injured receive proper treatment. He said that it was important for the authorities to act quickly so that the affected families in Assam can get timely support and closure.
